They've been taunting me for weeks. A few got almost ready to harvest and then succumbed to blossom end rot. Finally, these three are ready! I believe this is two Big Romas and an Amish Paste. (They got all mixed up as seedlings and are interplanted all over the yard.)
Now if the six million green ones would just ripen, I could start canning! Anybody have a good homemade spaghetti sauce recipe they can share?

When we saw the heirloom pineapple tomatoes (that looks funny in type) at the farmers market this weekend we remembered that you were going to try to plant those seeds from last year. How has that gone?
ReplyDeleteHopefully my mums will have some ripe in the near future as well...
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting to get Early Girls and it's August.

My only tomatoes producing lots are a patio tomato which is an early producer. Lots but just average tasting. I have an heirloom pineapple and two other heirloom green varieties and all three are really tall plants but just with blooms. I'm wondering if I'm going to get anything at all at this point! Nothing is growing exceptionally well this year. I got 2 great big cucumbers earlier in the season and now nothing else although there are a few little babies starting. Disappointing year
ReplyDeleteLooking good Mama! As a matter of fact -- I do have a "basic sauce" recipe I would be more than happy to share with you. I'll see if I can't get your email address somehow -- or I'll send you a message on Facebook. The sauce recipe is quite good and it's "safe for canning" either with a pressure canner or water-bath canner. We would up canning about 30 pints of this sauce last summer -- it's very good. We have about two or three left and that's it. But -- at least it lasted.
