Bargain Basement, Thy Name is Vitacost

I'm not a "deals" blogger. I like to use coupons, but am no expert at the drugstore-bucks-plus-coupons, extreme purchasing lifestyle. We just use our soaps and lotions sparingly (kids aren't allowed multiple pumps of soap) and they last just fine.

There is something that's better than stacking sales and coupons though, and that is getting something nearly free. Enter Vitacost--believe it or not, they'll give you $10 credit just for being a new customer!

Naturally, I gave this deal a try before recommending them to you. I got the 32 oz jug of JR Watkins Lemon laundry detergent for the $4.99 it cost to ship. MRSP is $10.99; Vitacost price is $9.89, so it was free with my $10 credit. It came carefully packed with tape around the lid to prevent leaks, which was a nice surprise.

Oh, and it smells heavenly. If the computer had smell-o-vision...but I digress.

What kinds of things can you get with your $10 credit? Lots! How about three containers of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Lavender hand soap for 68 cents plus shipping?

Know someone who's expecting? The Burt's Bees Baby Bee Getting Started kit is a buck plus shipping.

The possibilities are endless. They even have grocery items, like Annie's mac-n-cheese.

Pretty cool, huh? Here's the key: use discipline (shop once and be done) and use your "junk mail" email address. The $10 credit for new customers is a screaming deal, and they make their money back by sending emails so people continue to spend.

So, to quote the famous poet Steve Miller, "Go on, take the money and run."
