A Zillion Times Better

As we've discussed before, things are a bit different now than they were when I was little. Case in point: the oh-so-lovely carseat I had when I was a wee one.

That's me sitting in the box and a picture of the seat. You sat on the bottom square part, with your feet through the hole. The safety feature was the "impact shield"--the big paddle-like thing that your face would smash into in an accident.

I couldn't see over it, couldn't do anything while I was in it, and absolutely hated riding in it.

But now...(cue clouds parting and angels singing):

Isn't that a zillion times better? This is the new Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40, which Little Peanut and I recently got to check out.

First awesome feature: good packaging. The seat is wrapped in recyclable plastic, and there are two cardboard inserts in the box. No styrofoam, no layers upon layers of junk to unwrap and fill up the trash can.

Second: safety. The American Academy of Pediatrics says kids should face backwards until age 2. Clearly, they have never tried to origami-fold a 15 month old into a regular rear-facing baby seat. (I  turned Peanut around when she reached 12 months and 1 day).

The SnugRide takes care of this with an adjustable base, harness, and footrest. It's the only seat that fits baby from birth to age 2.

Third: portable. Have you ever tried to carry the carseat *with* the baby inside? You practically need to be a power lifter. The SnugRide clicks right into the Graco stroller so you're off and ready to go.
